For over 18 years, Constable Percy Medina, Atascosa Co. Precinct 1, served his community with dignity and respect. His oath was as strong as the oaks that shade the home he built for his family with the help of his wife, Roberta. Together they raised 4 children, teaching them to always give back to their community, to help those that desire to help themselves and to always thank God above for the blessings bestowed upon their family. He not only spoke the words, but also fulfilled them through action.
Constable Medina began awarding two scholarships to seniors of Pleasanton and Poteet High Schools in 2008 and was able to increase it to four scholarships per year until his untimely passing in 2019. Thereafter, his wife and children have continued his hard work and his scholarship program has now been able to award over 129 scholarships totaling over $170,000.00 to students of Atascosa County. A great deal of our success is due to the support of our community leaders, our dedicated volunteers and our commitment to allocate all funds to scholarships without a single dollar spent on salaries, maintenance fees or other expenses unrelated to the event or students.
On October 5, 2024, The 4rd Annual CPM Poker Tournament and Auction will be held at the Pleasanton Civic Center in Pleasanton, TX. Our intentions are to award as many scholarships to well-deserving students to assist them in their future college or trade school career.

As the years go by, we have invited each scholarship recipient to the home he built for his family. We gather to exchange memories, prayers and to congratulate each student and the loved ones they bring with them. We have felt that honoring Dad by taking a picture with his Texas Flag flying high in the background was one more way to express our gratitude for all his hard work and dedication to his family and his community.
The Constable Percy Medina Scholarship was first created by Constable Medina himself in 2008. After his untimely passing in October of 2019, his wife Roberta and children Erica, Priscilla, Gabriel and Mark were compelled to continue the work of their beloved patriarch. We are here to keep his memory alive by working together to offer assistance to well-deserving students of Atascosa County, Texas.
Our goal in 2021 was to award more scholarships than ever before and with the help of our community, family, friends and God, we were able to accomplish that goal and award over $20,000 in scholarships, as well as adding in Jourdanton and Charlotte High Schools to the program. We are proud to say that Dad's scholarship now includes all four of the Atascosa County High Schools!
